Seneca Casino at the Bear's Den, Niagara Falls, NY 2010Written by Thom Jennings The two and a half hour show featured lovely ballads, like an acoustic rendition of "Your Own Special Way" and powerful renditions of progressive rock staples like "Squonk," a song that Stuermer told the crowd was the first Genesis song he heard after Jean-Luc Ponty gave him a cassette tape of the Genesis album "Trick of the Tail." Nearly every song was met with riotous applause and a majority of them received a standing ovation. Stuermer's instrumental Genesis medley, including the instrumental section of the Genesis classic "Firth of a Fifth," practically brought down the house. The entire band executed every song with precision. Stuermer did a masterful job blending in his solo material with Genesis standards, and there did not appear to be the typical lack of response from the crowd that many artists get when they play unfamiliar material. To see music of the caliber of Genesis Rewired in an intimate setting is quite a treat, but this amazing band is definitely worth seeing in any setting as Genesis Rewired put on one of the best musical performances this reviewer has seen in awhile.
Harvest Fair - 2009I was at the Harvest Fest show last night, and I have a new definition for your project: Daryl Stuermer – Genesis Rewired = The Daryl Stuermer Band blueprinted, bored and stroked, supercharged and nitro injected. The fantastic musicianship of the band members, the high production values, and the energy and talent of Martin Levac come together to create one of those wonderful something's that are greater than the sum of their parts. ..RL
Summerfest - 2009I saw these guys at Summerfest on Saturday and they were FANTASTIC. They also received three standing ovations. You should have seen all of the folks streaming into the KISS concert stop to listen. They really got the crowd going. I can't wait to see them again. ..BH
I was at this performance. It was a remarkable event performed by the best of the best! I first heard Genesis in the 70's doing Lamb. The Rewired experience is a fresh interpretation for the guitar aficionado. Daryl brings class and greatness to his instrument. ..LR
Martin Levac is Phil Collins "rewired". He is from Montreal and has performed with many Genesis tribute bands. He is also Phil Collins on drums! He does it all. Look him up on YouTube for many videos. ..FK
Daryl - Stopped by to see you at Summerfest yesterday afternoon to hear your always awesome guitar work. Wow, what a surprise to hear the vocals of Martin Levac. That man's energy was amazing and if I were blind I would have thought I was listening to Genesis in the 80's. The show was unbelievably great and Martin was spot on with you and the rest of the band. Sign him up and start the tour. I look forward to your next shows. Took in the Bare Naked Ladies, Sara Evans and the Bo Dean last night. Your gig was by far the best show I watched last night. Cheers, ..Steve L. |
